Downtown Ripon shines at night.

Summer is in full swing in Ripon and Green Lake, offering plenty to do to beat the heat.

This week’s Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series features Wisconsin’s decadent ’80s rock band – The Glam Band.

The concert, which is sponsored by Pericles Financial Services, will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Village Green in downtown Ripon.

The Glam Band is made up of six guys with a love of ’80’s hair metal. The band has been performing for more than 15 years. The band gets its name from the glam metal era of music, also known as “hair metal.”

It is a subgenre of hard rock and heavy metal, most known for its catchy hooks and guitar riffs. This style can be traced back to acts like Aerosmith, Kiss and Van Halen.

Grace Preschool will host an open house Thursday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at 430 West Griswold St. in Ripon.

Registration materials, root beer floats, games and more will be provided at the event.

Grace Preschool’s Board of Directors scheduled the open house and alumni reception to welcome Wanda Potratz, who will lead the 2022-23 school year.

Potratz is a Ripon native, graduate of Ripon High School and Concordia College.

She spent several years as a missionary in Africa and brings classroom experience as well as world awareness to the program.

Grace Preschool was founded in 1977 to provide faith-based, non-denominational programs for preschool students ages 2 1/2 to 5 years.

Listening to live music, being by the lake, and enjoying a snack or refreshment – doesn’t sound like there’s a better way to spend a Wednesday night,” the chamber says.
